Overview
Johnstone's Garden Colours paint brings colour and protection to exterior wood. It's fade resistant and comes in a wide choice of colours to suit all tastes and schemes. Apply to garden furniture, fences and any exterior wood, including garden offices, trellis and wooden ornaments. You can paint garden sleepers with this paint too. It is easy to apply and offers long lasting colour retention and protection from the elements. The colour is smooth and rich, without losing the natural textured grain of the wood. It's water based, which makes cleaning equipment easier.

Preparation
Start by ensuring the timber is sound, clean, dry and free from dust, grease, polish or any other contaminant.
- Use a fungicidal wash to treat any mould or lichen and remove with a scraper or stiff brush, then treat surface again.
- Remove any old paintwork or varnish before you start
Application
Note: Always read the manufacturer's directions found on the tin
- For best results, stir well before use and continue to stir now and then whilst you're applying the paint.
- Using a brush, apply the paint evenly along the grain of the wood, working it well into the timber.
- One coat is generally enough, except on rough or cracked timber, where 2 coats should be applied, allowing 2-4 hours between coats under normal conditions.
Don't apply in temperatures below 10 degrees or when rain is forecast. To maintain the finish, you just need to apply a fresh coat every 2 or 3 years.
